“The right book in the right hands at the right time can change the world.”
Books for MKs is a Protestant Christian not-for-profit organization, dedicated to donating books to Missionary Kids on the mission field. Books for MKs is run by Kailey Bradley, the founder of the organization. Kailey currently mails books to over 140 missionary children! There is no cost to the missionary family at all, and the books are theirs to keep. It is a free gift!
I grew up in Mexico as a young Missionary Kid. I was a voracious reader when I was a kid on the mission field. Every birthday and Christmas, the only thing I asked for was more books!
Of course in Mexico, there weren’t any libraries with English books where I could satisfy that appetite for the written word. So I was always looking for more books, and I could never get enough. I ended up re-reading the same ones dozens of times. The Lord put it on my heart to donate books to kids on the mission field. It means a lot to me personally, especially from my own experiences as an MK of feeling sort of cut off from the English-speaking world, Books help to bridge that gap, and lets MKs (and parents) know that they are not alone out there.

Thank you Karen,
We are ministering to over 400 children daily. If we can get a book to each of them, will be a blessing. Our intention to create a good library for them.

Hi, I’m Kailey, the founder of Books for MKs. The books here are donated just to the children of missionaries. Are you saying that you have 400 missionary kids in your ministry? Either way, we might try to get some extra donations for those children. I’d love to hear more about your ministry, if you’d like to email me!
Hey Kailey, I can’t believe I haven’t heard of your work before now. I’d love to profile your project over at mkPLANET.com on our blog. Would you be interested?
Yes, thank you! That would be great!
I love the goal! I hope lives have been touched 🙂
Thank you! I’ve been so glad to connect with a lot of great kids, and they love reading!
can you help me about literature review.
I did a video about how to write Book Reviews! https://booksformks.com/2015/08/29/how-to-write-a-book-review/
Kailey…thanks so much for following my blog! I read that you also sing and play the piano. How wonderful! I play guitar and write songs. You can see more at http://www.BillTonnisMusic.com. Blessings on your endeavors!
Hi Kailey, I know another blogger with a big-heart ministry for children. He published a children’s book last year, Donkey Tells. James struggles with dyslexia yet the Lord moved on him and he wrote a wonderful book consisting of the Easter story as spoken from the donkey’s perspective. You may find out about it at menofoneaccord.wordpress.com. He writes about it on a page called Suspended Children or you may contact donkeytells@gmail..com
God Bless your ministry and thank you for all you are doing!
Thank you so much! Sounds like a great story. I’ll check it out!

Wow, praise God! It’s amazing how God is using you. My family have been church planters here in San Diego for the past 9 years and God just asked us to take a big step of faith and move down to the Dominican Republic to be missionaries there. We have 5 kids ages 3 months to 7 yrs old. I was googling what books to read to help prepare us and our kids to do cross cultural missions and this site popped up. I would love any recommendations that you have on what we should be reading. Thank you so much for what you do!
How wonderful! God bless you as you begin your missionary journey!
I don’t have any specific books to recommend to children on their way to the mission field. But there are a couple of books about missionary children that I have loved…. “Peanut Butter Friends in a Chop Suey World” by Deb Brammer and “Homesick” by Jean Fritz.
Happy Reading!
Thank u so much!

This is really cool! I’d also like to highlight you on my Daraja facebook page, http://www.facebook/DarajaTCK. Do you know about the 3rd edition of the TCK book, Growing Up Among Worlds? Peace! Michael
That would be wonderful! Thank you. No, I haven’t seen the new edition of your TCK book, but I would love to read it!
God Bless.
Hi there! I am so blessed to have found this site. My husband and I are working in Bangladesh and I can so relate to what you meant when you mentioned that you cannot find that many reading materials in English. I am homeschooling my daughter and we do need books for her literature class. She’s only 6 years old and I am praying to make her love books. She has started to love books. I am a bit embarrassed to ask you this but will it be possible for my daughter to get books from your organization? Kindly send me a private message on my messenger. My profile’s name is Nance Biswas. May God bless you for your generous heart sis Kailey! I am also more than willing to send some of our prayer letters so you can do a quick background check.
I also blog here as time permits: https://leaningonjesusalone.wordpress.com/
